Guys, explore more in Guides And Explainers and muppet studios tour.
A Brief History of Muppet Studios
Before we don our backstage passes, let's take a quick stroll down memory lane. Muppet Studios, originally known as Muppet Productions, was founded by the incomparable Jim Henson in 1955. This creative powerhouse has been responsible for bringing some of the most beloved characters to life, from the lovable Kermit the Frog to the hilarious Miss Piggy, and so many more.
Over the years, Muppet Studios has evolved into a sprawling campus that houses everything from state-of-the-art recording studios to sprawling sets for their hit TV shows and movies. But enough history, let's get to the fun stuff!
The Muppet Show Theatre
Our tour kicks off in the iconic Muppet Show Theatre, where the original TV series was filmed from 1976 to 1981. Step inside, and you'll feel the magic of those classic episodes come to life. The theatre's grand proscenium arch is adorned with twinkling lights, and the stage is set with familiar props and costumes.
As you wander the stage, you might spot Kermit's vintage piano or the famous "Muppet Labs" sign. Keep an eye out for the balcony boxes, too – they're filled with memorabilia from the show's heyday. It's a true testament to the enduring legacy of the Muppets.
The Fraggle Rock Caverns
Next up, we're venturing underground to explore the Fraggle Rock Caverns, the enchanted home of our furry, red friends, the Fraggles. As you descend into the depths, you'll notice the air getting cooler and the sound of Doozer drills echoing through the tunnels.
Once you reach the main cavern, you'll be greeted by the sight of Gobo, Mokey, Wembley, Boo, and Red playing among the stalagmites and stalactites. Don't forget to wave hello to the wise old Trash Heap, who's always happy to share her wisdom with visitors.
The Sesame Street Brownstone
No tour of Muppet Studios would be complete without a visit to the iconic Sesame Street Brownstone. Step inside, and you'll find yourself in the familiar living room of Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, and all their friends.
Check out the massive, yellow feather duster in the corner – it's Big Bird's signature prop! And if you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the beloved Sesame Street Muppets in action, filming one of their educational skits.
The Muppet Labs
Our tour concludes with a visit to the zany world of Muppet Labs, where Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his trusty assistant, Beaker, conduct their wacky experiments. The lab is filled with an eclectic mix of gadgets, gizmos, and who knows what else.
Be sure to ask Dr. Honeydew about his latest invention – he's always eager to show off his newest creations. And who knows? You might even get to witness a classic "Meep!" moment from Beaker!
