A Brief History of Pentatonix
Before we introduce the new members, let's quickly recap how Pentatonix began their musical journey. Founded in Arlington, Texas, in 2011, the group originally consisted of high school students Avi Kaplan, Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, and Kevin Olusola. They gained fame by winning the third season of NBC's The Sing-Off in 2011, and since then, they've become a global sensation, known for their stunning vocal arrangements and covers of popular songs.
Saying Goodbye to Dear Friends
In 2017 and 2020, Pentatonix bid farewell to two of their founding members, Avi Kaplan and Kirstin Maldonado. Avi decided to leave to pursue a solo career, while Kirstin stepped away to focus on her family and new musical projects. Their departures left a void in the group, but as they say, one door closes, and another opens. And open it did, with two incredibly talented individuals ready to fill those big shoes.
Meet the Newest Members of Pentatonix
Matané Incerti

Matané auditioned for Pentatonix in 2020, and her incredible range and soulful voice instantly captivated the group and their fans. Before joining Pentatonix, Matané was a member of the a cappella group The AcaBelles, where she honed her skills and developed her unique sound. She brings a fresh perspective to the group, helping to shape their music and keeping their sound fresh and exciting.
Jeremy Michael Lewis
Next, we have Jeremy Michael Lewis, a versatile and dynamic vocalist from Los Angeles, California. Jeremy also auditioned in 2020 and impressed the group with his wide vocal range and impressive beatboxing skills. With a background in musical theater and a passion for storytelling through song, Jeremy adds a new dimension to Pentatonix, helping to create innovative and engaging arrangements.
